Die Stop Motion Academy ist eine unabhängige, praxisorientierte Initiative für Stop-Motion-Animation. Sie arbeitet an der Schnittstelle von Filmproduktion, Workshop-Format und künstlerischer Forschung und versteht Animation als kollaborativen, experimentellen Prozess.

Im Zentrum steht die direkte Arbeit mit Material, Kamera und Bewegung: Figuren werden gebaut, Sets entstehen vor Ort, und Animation wird Bild für Bild gemeinsam entwickelt. Die Academy schafft dabei Räume, in denen nicht nur gelernt, sondern aktiv produziert wird.

Ein besonderer Fokus liegt auf mobilen und flexiblen Produktionsformen. Stop-Motion-Workshops finden häufig direkt in Festivals, Hochschulen oder kulturellen Projekträumen statt und verwandeln diese Orte temporär in kleine Animationsstudios.

Die Stop Motion Academy verbindet handwerkliche Techniken mit zeitgenössischen, hybriden Arbeitsweisen zwischen analoger Animation und digitaler Postproduktion. Dadurch entstehen niederschwellige, offene Produktionssituationen, die kreatives Arbeiten für unterschiedliche Erfahrungsstufen ermöglichen.

Stop Motion Academy

The Stop Motion Academy is an independent, artist-run initiative focused on practice-based stop-motion animation. It operates at the intersection of filmmaking, workshop formats, and artistic research, treating animation as a collaborative and process-driven form of production.

The Academy emphasizes hands-on filmmaking with materials, puppets, and camera-based animation. Participants develop characters, build miniature sets on site, and create animated sequences frame by frame. The focus is on making animation a shared production process rather than a purely instructional setting.

A key aspect of the Academy is its mobile and site-specific approach. Workshops are designed to function directly within festivals, universities, and cultural spaces, temporarily transforming them into small production studios for stop-motion animation.
